Nepal Agricultural
Engineering Students' Society : An Introduction
Background:
Nepal Agricultural
Engineering Students' Society ( NAESS) was constituted
on 14th Aug. 2003 as professional body and fraternity
of students pursuing Agricultural Engineering
studies at Institute of Engineering, Purwanchal
Campus, Dharan. Institute of Engineering started
the course in Agricultural Engineering at Purwanchal
Campus, Dharan beginning academic year of 2000-2001
( 2056/057 B.S).
With the inception
of this course, the need of constituting a student
body to complement the Agricultural Engineering
education was realized, that led to formation
of NAESS.
The overall
aim of NAESS is to explore oppurtunity and challenges
in the profession of Agricultural Enginering,
initiate and support information sharing scholarly
activities and complement in the quality enhancement
of instruction, research and technology transfer
pertaining to Agricultural Engineering at Purwanchal
Campus, Dharan.
Objectives:
While
NAESS is to function as independent professional
body of Agricultural Engineering students at
Purwanchal campus, Dharan it has set following
instutional objectives
-
To support,
cooperate and complement in developing Purwanchal
Campus, Dharan as centre of excellence in
instruction, research and technology transfer
in Agricultural Engineering.
- To establish linkage
with national, regional and international instutions
and organizations involved in instruction, research
and technology transfer in Agricultural Engineering
to foster knowledge sharing and information
exchange.
- To develop and foster
linkage and relationship with students' fraternity
in Agricultural Engineering around the world.
- To develop close cooperation
and working relationship with Nepal Society
of Agricultural Engineering (NSAE), which is
professional body of Agricultural Engineers
in Nepal, in enhancing Agricultural Engineering
profession in the country and increasing oppurtunities
for employment and career progression.
- To develop linkage and
cooperation with other professional bodies/
institutions and organizations in the country
that are relevant to the fields of Agricultural
Engineering.
- To organize talk programs,
seminar, workshop, conferences and other scholarly
activities in the ares and issues relevant to
Agricultural Engineering and Technology.
- To bring out publications
and technical journals in the areas relevant
to Agricultural Engineering and Technology.
- To honor individuals
and institutions for outstanding contributions
in the fields of Agricultural Engineering.
- To contribute in developing
academic competence and professional competitveness
among Agricultural Engineering students at Purwanchal
Campus, Dharan by organizing relevant programs
and institutingprizes/awards for scholastic
excellence.
- To contribute in general
welfare of Agricultural Engineering students
community pursuing their studies at Purwnchal
Campus, Dharan
Organization :
All the students pursuing
Agricultural Engineering at Purwanchal Campus,
Dharan are eligible to obtain general membership
of NAESS upon payment of one time entry fee of
NRs. 100.00 and annual fee of NRs. 50.00. The
general assembly of the members is the highest
decision making body convened twice in each academic
year.
The executive task of NAESS
are performed by an Executive Committee including
president , vice -president, Secretary, vice-
Secretary. Treasurer and 4 Member Representative
as functionaries. The functionaries are elected
every year for one year term.

The Office of the NAESS is located at Purwanchal
Campus, Dharan. The Dean of Institute of Engineering,
Campus chief of Purwanchal Campus- Dharan, president
of Nepal Society of Agricultural Engineering(
NSAE) and Chairperson of Agricultural Engineering
Department at Purwanchal Campus-Dharan are ex-officio
patrons of NAESS.
